The Swedish National Defence College and the UK Defence Academy debate effective measures to combat trans national threats.
“I would like to extend a warm and personal invitation to this rather special international event co-ordinated by two of Europe's leading centres of excellence in defence thinking. We would like to share with you our latest thoughts on counterterrorism and counterinsurgency and welcome you to listen and join the discussion.
This will be a unique and unmissable opportunity to hear the thoughts of our most senior and brilliant thinkers in a period of heightened uncertainty on evolving Asymmetric Threats and Challenges.
I look forward to seeing you there and welcoming you to the event.”

Henrik Landerholm,
President, Swedish National Defence College
“Countering insurgency and terrorism is a highly topical subject, and one on which thinking is fast-moving. This international conference will be an important opportunity for those who want to keep up-to-date with the latest developments to hear from, and exchange ideas with, experts in this field. The Defence Academy of the United Kingdom is delighted to co-host the conference with the Swedish National Defence College.
I look forward to seeing you there, and welcoming you to what promises to be a most stimulating event.”

Lieutenant General Sir John Kiszely
KCB MC Director, Defence Academy of the United Kingdom

- Insights into countering Islamic radicalisation with case studies from European cities on useful counter measures
- Discussion of the ‘hard’/’soft’ policing dilemma with successful commanders with operational experience across Europe
- Presentations on recently published military doctrine on counter insurgency
